Hurrican Katrina's devastation of New Orleans requires SAWCA to move meeting.
New Orleans Was Original Choice
SAWCA Conference
Moves to South Beach
By Kathy Oliver, President
It is with great regret that the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators (SAWCA) had to cancel our scheduled All-Committee Conference Meeting in New Orleans.
Our hopes and prayers continue to go out to all of the victims and survivors of Hurricane Katrina and after the city rebuilds, we will once again return to New Orleans.
However, our work must continue and the ACC meeting has been rescheduled. It will be held December 10-13, 2005 at the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort in Florida.
As usual, we have planned an outstanding educational program for you beginning with a Regulator’s Roundtable on Sunday morning. This will give the regulators time to share their concerns and successes with fellow regulators.
The General Session topics are being developed but we are considering putting together a panel to discuss Disaster Planning for Workers’ Compensation Boards and Commissions; Mediation, Should it be Mandatory? And we will have a safety presentation by OSHA.
The Standing Committees, as usual, will have very aggressive and interesting agendas. Please check the website for committee agendas.
Plus, the Wyndham Miami Beach Resort has so much to offer…the beach, golf, the Miami Seaquarium and the South Beach Art Deco District is minutes away. For those who are concerned about finishing their holiday shopping, world class shopping is close by in Bal Harbour and on Lincoln Road.
Please make plans to attend the SAWCA ACC in December. Everyone benefits by the trading of information and knowledge.
