Provider Profile
ACT Transportation on the Move
Advanced Care Transportation Express, Inc. (ACT) of Atlanta is a family-owned business that has provided decades of non-emergency medical service to Georgia residents. In the last two decades the company has expanded into the workers' compensation industry.
"We saw there was a need for medical transportation, and that wheelchair users in particular sometimes had to wait long periods to get a ride to the doctor of physical therapist," explained Dwight Hines, Manager of ACT. "It was a matter of expanding what we were already doing in the medical community."
The company operates and maintains its fleet of twenty wheelchair equipped vans, using its own mechanics to ensure vehicles are ready for the road. ACT also has a six wheelchair passenger Mercedes van that is often used for outdoor recreational trips and two vehicles that can accommodate stretchers. The company boasts a long list of references on its web site and has maintained many of its relationships for years.
Hines said the company is dedicated to on-time, door-to-door service and trains and employs a staff to schedule and track every trip. Drivers also go through a training program to prepare them for transporting clients who might require special attention and each vehicle is computerized and equipped with a GPS, Hines pointed out.
The Atlanta-born and raised Hines expects the company to continue the steady growth it has had over the years. "We are staying focused on what we are doing. If we see that needs are changing we will make changes to meet those needs," he emphasized.
