Judge Carolyn Hall Retires as
Chair of State Board
By Ray Brasted
Nothing stays the same. In a decade of change it is appropriate that Judge Carolyn Hall retires while at the top of her game and at the end of a year of tremendous innovation at the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation.
Her tenure was characterized by an inclusiveness that isn't often found in business or government. If you had a question she would give you an answer and Judge Hall was always quick to give the credit to those who deserved it.
In an interview with this publication, she emphasized that it was the members of the board, the staff and volunteers who taught her and made it possible for her to do her job. She made many friends in high places who were willing to go the extra mile to support improvements to workers' compensation.
The Integrated Claims Management System was put into place on her watch and, as this is written, it is online and the transition from paper to electronic just about complete. From the beginning the Board provided a regular update in the pages of Georgia1st, helping to keep everyone current on the changes.
The good ones make it look easy. There had to be difficult days and challenging moments, but when industry professionals from every corner of the state convene in Atlanta for the annual workers' comp conference you can bet there will be hundreds of them seeking out Judge Hall to thank her for her leadership and service. And above all, they will thank her for her friendship.
