Lots of things are happening with the Georgia State Board Certification Programs (Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional Program (CWCP) and Medical Providers Workers’ Compensation Professional Program (MPWCP).
The year 2009 was another great one for the State Board's Training Programs. We had over 200 Insurance Carriers, TPA’s and Employers participate in the CWCP and we had 350 participants in our new medical provider training program.
This is our 11th year leading the Board Training and we have some big things in store for 2010. First of all we are launching our new interactive website featuring a discussion board and knowledge library effective February 1. This feature allows the participants in the certification programs to connect and share ideas. We tested this last year and had great response and now have a robust new website to handle both of these features.
The other big news is our new Medical Providers Training Program (MPWCP). We have just finished our pilot program and had over 350 participants. The pilot participants have given us feedback on the program and we have made dozens of enhancements, as a result.
Entire Course Can be Done On-Line
For example the entire course can now be done on-line. The physicians that complete the training program are eligible to participate in the State Board’s Medical network at www.wcmednet.com.
The site is free for employers to access and has free risk management tools for the employers. The site also has several interactive features that promote better communication between the providers and the employers to ensure that the injured employee gets a timely medical treatment plan so they can recover from their injury and get back to work.
It should be noted that a lot of providers that would not be on a panel (i.e. rehab suppliers) and vendors to the medical community have shown a strong interest in the medical certification.
We are excited about the opportunity to work with the State Board to create training initiatives that benefit all the parties involved in a workers; compensation claim and look forward to a great 2010. You can learn more about the training programs at www.rmitraining.net.
