Kids' Chance, GA
Focus on Families Key to Success
It is pretty amazing how much gets done when a people put their passion to work for good. We have a great example in our industry where twenty-two-years ago Kids' Chance was founded in Georgia.
Robert Clyatt, a workers' compensation attorney from Valdosta saw the anguish of families shattered by a serious workplace injury and set out to do something to make a difference in their lives. With the assistance of the Workers' Compensation Section of the Georgia Bar, Clyatt incorporated the organization and began raising money to fund a scholarship program. Since that time, over 600 Georgia students have been helped to continue their education
This year the national meeting was being held in St. Louis, MO and included topics such as non-profit investing and an ideas exchange trade show. You can now become a member of their Facebook, follow them on Twitter or LinkedIn. Thirteen states, including Georgia are members of the national organization. There are a number of other states which are not members, but have scholarship programs.
Regardless of how the social media is developed or how policies are formed, Kids' Chance is successful because it puts families first. When you look at the roster of volunteers and sponsors of Kids' Chance in Georgia you see that principal at work and you see the results in the smiles and testimonies of the young people that have been served.
