Judge Leesa Bohler
Leaves State Board
For Private Practice
After serving sixteen years with the State Board of Workers’ Compensation as an Administrative Law Judge in the Savannah office, Judge Leesa Bohler is leaving the bench to return to private practice. She will be joining the law firm of Moore, Clarke, DuVall & Rodgers, P.C. with locations in Atlanta, Albany, Columbus, and Valdosta. Judge Bohler became counsel to the firm and open their Savannah office on June 1, 2010.
Judge Bohler will return to her roots as a civil litigator defending lawsuits in the Superior, State and Federal Courts as well as workers’ compensation claims in Savannah and the surrounding areas.
She also announced plans to join Mediated Dispute Resolutions, LLC, a civil mediation firm with principals Burt Tillman and Luanne Clarke, effective June 1st. With MDR, she will use her training and experience as a mediator for the Board and as a judge to continue to mediate cases in the workers’ compensation arena as well as in various tort and employment cases.
Judge Bohler stated unequivocally that she thoroughly enjoyed her tenure as an Administrative Law Judge and will truly miss her Board family.
Upon learning of her decision, current Chairman Rick Thompson announced, “It is with both regret and admiration that I announce ALJ Leesa Bohler has accepted an opportunity to re-enter the private practice of law after a long and distinguished career with SBWC.
“There is no doubt she will be sorely missed by everyone within the SBWC family. Leesa Bohler is a most knowledgeable and industrious workers’ compensation practitioner, who is well respected by all members of the Workers’ Compensation bar.”
Former Chairman Carolyn Hall stated, “Working with Leesa was one of the great pleasures of the job. Her temperament, grace, and knowledge of the law were ever present in her decisions. I am certain that she will be missed for her balanced approach to life. On a personal note, her generous spirit was acknowledged by all.”
Former Chairman Harrill Dawkins, now the ALJ for the Augusta area, was the Chairman who tapped Judge Bohler for the bench. According to Judge Dawkins, “Leesa Bohler was an outstanding judge, but even more important, an outstanding person. I wish her the best of luck in her new endeavor. We will miss her at the Board.”
Judge Warren Massey, current Director, remarked “Judge Bohler is an exemplary jurist and although we will miss her at the Board, we wish her the greatest success in her new position at Moore, Clarke, DuVall, & Rogers. She will be a valuable asset to her new firm.”
Judge Viola Drew, former Director, noted, “It has been my privilege to work with Judge Leesa Bohler for the past 16 years. Over the years, I have found that Leesa possesses both a keen legal intellect and a great love for the law. Leesa has always been a very conscientious judge who treated all who came before her with fairness and consideration.”
Former Judge Leesa Bohler is married to Greg Hunter and they are the parents of two sons who are students at Georgia Southern University.
